What Are Google Ads?

When you search something on Google, if applicable, the first few results you see are often ads (although some may appear at the bottom of the page), while the rest are organic search results that are ranked via SEO. For example, in the image below, I searched for landscaping in Calgary. The first two results I saw were ads- denoted by the word “sponsored” or sometimes “Ad”. Below that are organic results for landscaping businesses in Calgary.
